GlobalWafers 2026 Friendly Earth Beach Cleanup:
Joining Hands with Partners and the Next Generation to Protect Our Coastlines

On the morning of October 3, GlobalWafers returned to the coast for its annual Friendly Earth Beach Cleanup at the Binhai Evergreen Forest beach in Zhunan Township, Miaoli County. Employees and family members from GlobalWafers’ Hsinchu and Zhunan sites, Taisil, and parent company Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS) came together for the event. This year, GlobalWafers also extended the invitation to supply chain partners, broadening the reach of its environmental initiatives beyond the company and encouraging greater collaboration with business partners. Zhunan is one of GlobalWafers’ key operating sites. As GlobalWafers continues to strengthen its presence in the area, the company remains committed to protecting the surrounding natural environment and supporting local community sustainability. By taking action to preserve Zhunan’s coastline and its valuable natural resources, GlobalWafers aims to deepen its ties with the local community and foster a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and mutual growth.

A total of 104 employees, family members, and partners participated in the cleanup. Over the course of two hours, participants collected and sorted 106 kilograms of marine debris, including 30 kilograms of plastics, 12 kilograms of glass, 10 kilograms of Styrofoam, and 54 kilograms of other waste. Beyond restoring the cleanliness of the coastline, the hands-on cleanup and waste sorting provided participants with a direct understanding of the long-term impacts that everyday waste can have when it enters the natural environment.

From GlobalWafers to Our Partners: Expanding the Collective Effort to Protect Our Oceans

Environmental protection requires long-term commitment as well as collective participation. This year, GlobalWafers further expanded the beach cleanup by inviting supply chain partners to take part, extending sustainability engagement beyond the company and into its broader network of collaboration.

With employees, family members, and partners working side by side, the beach cleanup served not only as an environmental initiative, but also as an opportunity to bring different stakeholders together around a shared commitment to sustainability. Through hands-on participation, environmental responsibility moves beyond policies and targets and becomes something that each participant can put into practice, helping to expand the positive impact of collective action.

A Beach Cleanup That Became an Outdoor Environmental Classroom

One of the most heartwarming scenes of this year’s event was seeing many employees bring their children along to participate.

Across the beach, parents could be seen crouching beside their children, helping them identify different types of marine debris—from plastic bottle caps and Styrofoam to discarded fishing gear—and explaining how these materials can affect marine life and coastal ecosystems. The children, meanwhile, explored the beach as if on a treasure hunt, excitedly calling to their families whenever they discovered litter before working together to sort what they had collected.

These simple interactions transformed the cleanup into an environmental lesson grounded in real-life experience. By collecting, observing, and sorting waste firsthand, children gained a better understanding of the relationship between discarded materials and the natural environment. At the same time, parents were able to pass on the importance of caring for the environment through shared experience and conversation. When environmental awareness becomes more than knowledge and turns into a meaningful family experience, the values of sustainability can take root naturally in the next generation.

Starting with One Coastline, Building Lasting Sustainability Impact

GlobalWafers has remained committed to coastal conservation and beach cleanup activities in the Zhunan area since 2020. The 2026 event marked the seventh consecutive year of the initiative. Over the years, employees and their families have helped turn environmental protection into tangible action. By further inviting supply chain partners to participate in 2026, GlobalWafers is continuing to extend the reach of these efforts beyond the company itself.

Protecting the oceans cannot be achieved through a single event; it requires sustained commitment and continued action. Looking ahead, GlobalWafers will continue to integrate employee engagement, environmental education, and supply chain collaboration into its environmental initiatives, extending sustainability from business operations to families, partners, and local communities, and working together to leave a cleaner and healthier natural environment for future generations.
