GlobalWafers Invited to Participate in TSMC’s “1+N Carbon Management Demonstration Program”
Sharing Practical Approaches to Cross-Border Decarbonization and RE100 Progress

In response to the global trend toward net-zero transformation, GlobalWafers continues to enhance its carbon management initiatives. The company was recently invited to join the kickoff meeting of the “1+N Carbon Management Demonstration Program” organized by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). As the only upstream supplier invited to share carbon management experience, GlobalWafers was represented by its Chief Sustainability Officer, Vice President James Huang, who delivered a presentation outlining the company’s practical experience and strategic actions in driving low-carbon transition across its global operations.

This program marks a key step in TSMC’s plan to promote net-zero transformation across its manufacturing divisions in 2025. It brought together key partners from across the supply chain, with the aim of fostering dialogue and sharing real-world experiences to accelerate collective carbon reduction efforts. In a session titled “GlobalWafers’ Carbon Reduction Strategy in Action,” the presentation explained how the company has developed a resilient carbon management system while navigating the regulatory, policy, and geopolitical challenges across 18 operational sites in nine countries spanning three continents.

In addition, the presentation also highlighted GlobalWafers’ updated decarbonization roadmap and recent progress in renewable energy deployment. As part of its deepening commitment to climate action, the company has officially advanced its RE100 target. The goal of achieving 100% renewable energy use across all subsidiaries has been moved forward from the original 2050 timeline to 2040, along with updated interim milestones. GlobalWafers implements a wide range of strategies, including installing solar energy systems, adopting energy sources, signing power purchase agreements (PPAs), and acquiring renewable energy certificates (RECs), all aimed at increasing the use of renewable energy at its global sites. In the presentation, GlobalWafers not only shared its energy-saving and carbon reduction measures for Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, but also engaged with on-site industry partners to discuss the management framework and collaborative approach for addressing Scope 3 emissions across the supply chain.

With “Responsible Growth” as its guiding principle, GlobalWafers remains committed to green manufacturing and environmental sustainability. The company also places great importance on long-term collaboration with customers and supply chain partners. Participation in this TSMC-led initiative is seen as both an honor and an opportunity for meaningful exchange. GlobalWafers sincerely thanks TSMC for the invitation and looks forward to continued collaboration to co-create a resilient and sustainability-driven semiconductor value chain.
