GWC today reported financial results for May. Consolidated revenue reached NT$1.32 billion, 6.3% of monthly growth rate. With its consecutive growth from January to May, consolidated revenue has totaled NT$6.21 billion.
The 1st half of the 2016, for the global semiconductor industry market was a gradual recovery from the recession since last 2nd half. Order momentum of small and medium-sized silicon wafers especially performed much better than expectation. GWC Taiwan as well as its subsidiaries in China, USA and Japan all experienced subsequent production at full capacity with order increases of small medium-sized products. Looking ahead to the 2nd half of 2016, global economic demand recovery status from semiconductor markets is likely to turn optimistic quarter by quarter. Small and medium-sized wafers demand will remain at the strong level as the 1st half of this year while, for the large-sized wafers, growth is likely to be further driven by upcoming new smartphones and dual-lens devices which requiring versatile functionalities.
GWC will surely enlarge its operation scale following the acquisition of the silicon business of Topsil Semiconductor Materials A/S (“Topsil”), expected to contribute extra revenue and further growth from 3rd quarter this year.
With the acquisition of Topsil semiconductor business unit, GWC could create another new manufacturing site in Europe following Taiwan, China, USA and Japan manufacturing base. This helps GWC to fulfill its globalization strategy successfully. In addition, by bringing in the FZ production line, the company thus becomes one of the limited leading world class makers that could provide a full range of both CZ and FZ wafers and sequentially focus on the growth of the automobile electronics and high power application field soonest. By utilizing GWC group’s flexible global sales network channel, we optimistically expect the further revenue growth by promoting FZ products aggressively to the high demand markets of automobile electronics and high power application such as Japan, China, USA and Taiwan area.
