GlobalWafers’ Italian subsidiary, MEMC Electronic Materials S.p.A., was recently honored with the Green Award 2025 – Best Improvement by German semiconductor company Infineon Technologies. The award recognizes the company’s continued progress in reducing environmental impact, increasing the use of renewable energy, enhancing the transparency of product carbon footprint information, and strengthening sustainable management.
The Infineon Green Award recognizes suppliers that have demonstrated achievements in environmental commitment and sustainability practices. As the semiconductor industry places increasing emphasis on supply chain decarbonization and product carbon information disclosure, collaboration between customers and suppliers has gradually expanded beyond product quality, delivery, and technical capabilities to include energy use, carbon footprint management, and environmental information disclosure.
GlobalWafers’ receipt of the Best Improvement award recognizes the company’s continued advancement of various sustainability initiatives in recent years, including joining RE100, committing to setting science-based targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), accelerating the use of renewable energy, improving the transparency of product carbon footprint information, and achieving strong results in CDP’s Climate Change and Water Security assessments. These actions reflect GlobalWafers’ ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability goals into operational management and actively respond to customer expectations for a low-carbon supply chain and greater transparency in product carbon information.
In recent years, GlobalWafers has continued to reduce the environmental impact of its operations through the adoption of renewable energy, improvements in energy efficiency, optimization of processes and equipment, and product carbon footprint management. This award not only demonstrates customer recognition of GlobalWafers’ sustainability efforts, but also reflects the semiconductor value chain’s shared focus on climate action and supply chain decarbonization.
