GlobalWafers recently participated in United Microelectronics Corporation’s (UMC) 2025 UMC Low-Carbon Supplier Awards Ceremony and Sustainability Sharing Forum and stood out among 16 suppliers recognized for outstanding carbon reduction performance, receiving the higher honor of the event, the Carbon Reduction Pioneer Award. Following last year’s recognition with the Carbon Reduction Leadership Award, GlobalWafers advanced to a higher level of distinction this year. The award reflects the Company’s long-term commitment and tangible results in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, green manufacturing, and information transparency, as well as strong recognition from its customer. At the ceremony, GlobalWafers was also invited to share its practical achievements in energy conservation and carbon reduction, quoting a line from Tao Yuanming’s poetry, “叩門拙言辭,” to illustrate that the path toward carbon reduction may not rely on eloquent rhetoric, but instead requires steady and sincere actions at every step. This philosophy echoes GlobalWafers’ pragmatic approach to advancing its net-zero transition.

GlobalWafers continues to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across its global operations, bringing forward its RE100 target to 2040 and formally committing to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Beyond setting more ambitious carbon reduction targets, the Company has strengthened its decarbonization efforts through equipment upgrades, process optimization, renewable energy deployment, and supply chain engagement. As of the third quarter of 2025, renewable energy accounted for 7.48% of total electricity consumption across GlobalWafers’ operating sites, sourced through self-generation, unbundled renewable energy certificates, and renewable energy contracts. In parallel, GlobalWafers steadily advances circular economy practices, enhances information transparency, and actively responds to stakeholder concerns, further reinforcing the forward-looking and resilient nature of its sustainability strategy.
From last year’s Carbon Reduction Leadership Award to this year’s Carbon Reduction Pioneer Award, the continued recognition underscores customer confidence in GlobalWafers’ carbon reduction achievements and symbolizes the Company’s consistent and steadfast progress on the path toward net zero. Looking ahead, GlobalWafers will continue to move forward with a pragmatic and disciplined approach, further strengthening energy efficiency, increasing the share of renewable energy, and working closely with supply chain partners to jointly build a more resilient and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem.
