GlobalWafers participated in United Microelectronics Corporation’s (UMC) Sustainable Supplier Awards Ceremony on December 10 and was honored with the “Carbon Reduction Leadership Award” in recognition of the GlobalWafers’ outstanding performance in carbon reduction. This award symbolizes our customers’ high recognition of GlobalWafers’ achievements in sustainability and excellence in quality, while also showcasing the company’s dedication and commitment to providing superior and low-carbon wafers.
Due to industrial characteristics, the main source of the GlobalWafers’ greenhouse gas emissions is from Scope 2 (indirect emissions from the use of purchased electricity, heat or steam and other energy for the company’s own use). GlobalWafers has been working on various energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects. Compared with the base year 2019, GlobalWafers’ greenhouse gas unit emissions (Scope 2) were reduced by 16.72% in 2023, and the unit electricity consumption was reduced by 8.17% in 2023, both exceeding the company’s original goals.
