Singapore, November 8 2022 – Forbes unveiled its 2022 Asia’s Power Businesswomen list, honoring 20 outstanding women in business across the Asia-Pacific region. The 20 women were selected for their achievements in their current role running a business with sizable revenue and demonstrating strong leadership throughout their career. Doris Hsu, chairperson and CEO of GlobalWafers. Hsu leads GlobalWafers, one of the world’s largest suppliers of silicon wafers used in making chips with plants in 17 sites over 9 countries. In June, the company announced it would invest up to $5 billion in a new wafer plant in Sherman, Texas, that would create as many as 1,500 jobs.
The Hsinchu-headquartered firm was born as a spinoff from Taiwan’s Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) in 2011; Hsu became its chairperson and CEO that year. These days, GlobalWafers is 51% owned by SAS and, as of late October, traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange with a market cap of roughly NT$154.1 billion ($5 billion). In 2020, Hsu also became chairperson and CEO of SAS.
