Stakeholder Engagement

GlobalWafers values stakeholder opinions and actively engages with them to identify key sustainability issues, integrating these into the company’s vision and goals for sustainable development. Based on industry characteristics, GlobalWafers refers to the latest GRI Standards, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) guidelines, as well as domestic and international sustainability-related frameworks and ESG evaluation indicators. The company identifies stakeholders and gathers information on topics of concern in alignment with its operational activities and business relationships.

To ensure the implementation of material issues and the achievement of objectives, the Corporate Sustainability Development Committee of GlobalWafers holds annual discussions on governance, social, and environmental material issues, reviews the progress toward targets by various departments, and formulates future plans. The committee consolidates execution results, stakeholder engagement activities, and other relevant matters, submitting a report to the Board of Directors annually. For the year 2023, the stakeholder engagement summary was reported to the Board of Directors on May 7, 2024.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication Overview

GlobalWafers continuously communicates with its key stakeholders (customers, employees/unions, shareholders/investors, suppliers/contractors, government agencies, media, communities/non-profit organizations) through diverse channels. We proactively disclose relevant sustainability information via public platforms such as our official website, annual reports, sustainability reports, and media, detailing the progress and responses in our sustainability management efforts. The communication activities and reporting details for each category of stakeholders in the most recent year are as follows:

Identification and Analysis of Material Topics

GlobalWafers regularly issues an impact evaluation questionnaire to our senior managers to assess the impact of various sustainability issues on the company. This survey aims to conduct an impact analysis and risk assessment on corporate operations to identify the actual/potential likelihood and extent of positive and negative impacts on various sustainability issues. In addition, GlobalWafers distributed ESG issue concerns questionnaires to our key stakeholders to gather insights on their concerns of corporate sustainability topics. By identifying material sustainability issues, the company uses these findings as guideline for the preparation of its annual sustainability report. Furthermore, based on the results of the materiality analysis, the company is enable to align its sustainability goals with strategies by planning and allocating resources to enhance sustainable practices.

Whistleblowing

GlobalWafers attaches great importance to its own compliance with laws and regulations, and has formulated “Measures for the Report on Illegal, Immoral and Dishonest Conducts” in accordance with Article 10 of the Company’s “Code of Ethical Conduct” and Article 23 of the “Ethical Corporate Management Best Practice Principles”. When related parties discover improper behavior, they can report it to the telephone number or email address set up by the company. In order to fully deal with misconduct, the Company may request the name and contact information of the whistleblower when handling reported cases, but the whistleblower may also request to remain anonymous. Within the limits permitted by law, our company will maintain the confidentiality of reported content in the strictest manner. The company accepts whistleblowing cases and if upon investigation it is discovered that there are major violations or the company is in danger of being seriously damaged, a report will be immediately notified to the independent directors or audit committee members, and appropriate rewards may be provided to the whistleblower depending on the importance.
