GlobalWafers Partners with Formosa 3D to Sponsor the Screening of “Taiwan Unsung Hero”
Reaching 12 Schools across Yilan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli Bringing Light and Hope to Children through the Power of Film

In the spring and summer of 2025, GlobalWafers partnered with the Association of Formosa 3D and the Taiwan Renaissance Platform to launch the charitable screening program of the documentary Taiwan Unsung Hero. The initiative reached a total of 12 elementary, junior high, and special education schools across Yilan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli, impacting more than a thousand students and teachers. The screenings focused on counties where GlobalWafers and its parent company, Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS), operates, including mountainous, coastal, and under-resourced regions. Through mobile cinema tours and educational storytelling, the program sought to plant seeds of courage and hope in the hearts of children with stories that are heartfelt and true.

In an age of rapidly changing information, growing life pressures, and increasing uncertainty, we believe that visual storytelling carries a quiet yet profound power. It can weave through noise and anxiety, gently settling in the hearts of children and becoming a light that guides them forward. With a global footprint and deep ties to Taiwan, GlobalWafers, together with SAS, upholds the values of social responsibility and sustainable development. Guided by the mission to give back to local communities and support the underprivileged, the company integrates local education, visual culture, and green technology. Through mobile cinema tours and the adoption of solar energy, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability while nurturing environmental awareness and social compassion among the next generation. This initiative reflects our continued dedication to the communities we are rooted in.

Taiwan Unsung Hero is directed by Charlie Chu (曲全立), who experienced the fragility of life firsthand after surviving a life-threatening illness. Through his lens, he traveled throughout Taiwan to document a group of people who, though not widely known, remain steadfast in their beliefs in the face of adversity. Some live with physical disabilities yet continue to invent and create. Some quietly guard forests and farmland. Others use music to comfort and accompany children with special needs through times of loneliness. They do not wear capes, yet their actions reveal the true meaning of courage and love.

The screenings were held at Guang-Fu Elementary School in Yilan City, Wen-Hua Junior High School in Su’ao Township, the Yilan Special Education School in Wujie Township, and Pei-Cheng Elementary School in Luodong Township; Gang-Nan and Chedong Elementary Schools in Xiangshan District, Hsinchu City; and Yong-Jen Elementary Schools in Toufen, Zhen-Tou, Nan-He, and Cheng-Zhong Elementary Schools in Tongxiao Townships of Miaoli County. Students and teachers of different ages and backgrounds gathered in front of the screen to witness real-life stories, and to experience the strength of courage, empathy, and perseverance. They realized that even a life filled with challenges can shine with light, and that those who persist in quiet dedication are the truest “Taiwan Unsung Heroes” among us.

To ensure that more children could experience the emotional power of film firsthand, several screenings were conducted with the help of Taiwan’s only mobile 3D cinema truck, personally built by Director Chu. Over the past decade, the truck has traveled deep into remote areas and offshore islands, bringing the magic of cinema to communities that need it most. No matter how long the journey or how harsh the weather, the cinema truck never stops. It continues to bring immersive cinematic experiences to more children. The truck is also equipped with mobile solar panels, allowing children to learn about green energy while enjoying the screenings. This effort aligns with the longstanding commitment of SAS Group to renewable energy and sustainable development, adding deeper meaning and value to this charitable initiative.

On that day, the children watched quietly and attentively as a different kind of hero appeared on screen. These were not fictional figures in capes, but real individuals who choose gentle perseverance and compassion when facing hardship. These stories quietly took root in the children’s hearts, nurturing the potential for courage and change in their own lives.

After the film, heartfelt reflections began to emerge from the students. “A true superhero is someone who helps others.” “I learned to face challenges bravely and not give up, just like them.” “Thank you for letting me watch such a wonderful movie. It made me like myself more.” These simple words expressed the children’s purest emotions and revealed the lasting power of visual storytelling.

GlobalWafers supports the Taiwan Unsung Hero charitable screening tour, reaching three counties and twelve schools, where the laughter, reflections, and bright eyes of over a thousand children became gentle echoes, reminding us of our core public mission. GlobalWafers believes that even the smallest action, when rooted in love, has the power to bring about meaningful change. We cherish every encounter with children and embrace this initiative as a heartfelt act of care and lasting connection. Looking ahead, we will continue to protect hope, share kindness, and work together to build a warmer and more compassionate world.
