Prof. J. Andrew Yeh, Chief Advisor of Science and Technology at GlobalWafers, has been awarded the “2024 Distinguished Research Fellow Award” by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC). This honor is not only a strong recognition of Prof. Yeh’s long-term dedication to research, but also fills us with deep respect and admiration as we witness his continued contributions across academia, industry, and public affairs.
Prof. Yeh holds dual backgrounds in mechanical and electrical engineering. After earning his Ph.D. from Cornell University, he focused on advanced research in semiconductor materials, MEMS, and nanotechnology. Prof. Yeh is co-appointed as Professor by Institute of NanoEngineering and Microsystems (iNEMS) and Department of Power Mechanical Engineering (PME) at National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan). He taught for many years at National Tsing Hua University, nurturing numerous outstanding talents. His academic achievements are remarkable—he has received the “National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Outstanding Research Award” twice, and led multiple commissioned studies and major national science and technology projects. His research has had significant influence and he has also been invited to serve in key government positions, reflecting a deep integration of academic and policy expertise.
Since taking on the role of Chief Technology Advisor at GlobalWafers, Prof. Yeh has applied his solid professional knowledge and visionary thinking to lead the company’s technological advancement and interdisciplinary integration. He has helped the team push boundaries and continue innovating, and has consistently brought forward-looking perspectives to technology planning and R&D strategy. He is not only a key driver of technological progress, but also a strong pillar as the company navigates industry innovation and change.
