To deepen young students’ understanding of climate change and carbon management, GlobalWafers was recently invited to the “Human Resource Management” course offered by the Department of Management Science at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). The company hosted a sustainability education session that combined knowledge sharing with interactive simulation. Through the self-developed educational board game Power On, GlobalWafers helped students bridge academic concepts with real-world practice and better prepare for sustainability challenges in the workplace.
The session began with the topic of the global climate emergency and provided a structured overview of four internationally recognized carbon-related standards highly relevant to corporate operations, including ISO 14064 (Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory standard) and ISO 14067 (Carbon footprint of products standard). Through the Power On board game, students were guided to simulate decision-making scenarios around power supply strategies and carbon emission balancing, deepening their understanding of how energy choices impact sustainability performance.
Students actively participated throughout the class, using gameplay to strengthen their understanding of carbon issues while developing system thinking and risk assessment skills through team-based competition. By making complex standards more tangible and approachable, the event embodied the spirit of learning through play, transforming abstract sustainability concepts into hands-on experiences that increased student engagement and learning retention.
