GlobalWafers Awarded CDP Supplier Engagement Leader “A” Rating,
Recognized for Sustainable Value Chain Management

CDP recently released the results of its 2024 Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA), with GlobalWafers receiving the highest “A” grade and recognized as a “Supplier Engagement Leader”. GlobalWafers received top scores in key evaluation areas, including supplier engagement, risk management processes, and Scope 3 GHG emissions, highlighting its proactive efforts in driving a sustainable value chain in response to climate change.

The CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA) assesses how effectively companies extend climate action across their value chains through concrete measures such as governance structures, supplier collaboration, greenhouse gas emissions accounting, and target setting. GlobalWafers’ rating reflects international recognition of its long-term commitment to sustainable supply chain management.

Guided by the philosophy of “Responsible Growth”, GlobalWafers continues to pursue low-carbon operations while actively engaging with suppliers to build a more resilient sustainability value chain. In recent years, the company has significantly enhanced its use of renewable energy and low-emission production processes. At the same time, it has promoted carbon management initiatives among both upstream suppliers and downstream customers, helping shape a fully integrated green value chain.

In practical terms, GlobalWafers holds regular “Supplier Day” to communicate its carbon reduction targets and related strategies. Suppliers are classified based on the scale of their emissions and are encouraged to conduct carbon footprint assessments and adopt emissions reduction measures. Through the supplier classifying mechanism, GlobalWafers is able to focus on suppliers with higher carbon emission, gradually advancing decarbonization efforts and enhancing the overall efficiency and execution of carbon management across the supply chain. Regarding the downstream value chain, GlobalWafers also engages with key customers on important topics such as renewable energy adoption and Science-Based Targets (SBTi). In addition, GlobalWafers actively participates in joint meetings hosted by SEMI, collaborating with end customers on decarbonization strategies and working toward a low-carbon, resilient industry supply chain.

From an operational perspective, GlobalWafers has implemented ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventories across global operational sites to identify and manage emissions risks more effectively. It has also integrated international standards such as ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 50001 for energy management, adopting strategies that include technological innovation, process optimization, and energy transition. These efforts support a comprehensive range of environmental actions, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and source reduction of waste.

Looking ahead, GlobalWafers will continue to strengthen two-way communication and cooperation with its supply chain partners. Through knowledge sharing, technical collaboration, and resource integration, the company remains committed to achieving its carbon reduction goals. It will also continue to review and adjust its sustainability strategies to respond to external developments and stakeholder expectations, steadily advancing the green transformation and long-term sustainability of the entire value chain.
