108 Suppliers Complete Sustainability Assessments, Advancing Carbon Information Transparency

As of the end of 2025, GlobalWafers had completed sustainability assessments for 108 key suppliers,. Among them, 81 suppliers had obtained ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, while 20 suppliers had completed third-party greenhouse gas inventory verification.

Polysilicon is a critical raw material for semiconductor wafer manufacturing. As part of its polysilicon supply chain management, GlobalWafers has also incorporated its key suppliers into its carbon emissions tracking program. By continuously monitoring suppliers’ carbon emissions data and decarbonization progress, GlobalWafers is progressively enhancing carbon transparency across the supply chain and strengthening its carbon reduction management capabilities.

The FTSE4Good Index Series, developed by FTSE Russell, is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong ESG practices. The indices are widely used by market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other financial products. Companies selected for inclusion must pass rigorous screening across a range of critical ESG themes, including corporate governance, anti-corruption, climate change, labor standards, and supply chain management.

Since 2022, GlobalWafers has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series for five consecutive years (2022–2026). In 2026, GlobalWafers received an overall FTSE Russell ESG score of 4.1 out of a maximum score of 5, outperforming the semiconductor industry average of 3.3 and the global technology industry average of 2.9. Across individual ESG themes, GlobalWafers achieved full scores of 5 in both corporate governance and anti-corruption, as well as scores of 4 in water security, environmental supply chain, labor standards, and social supply chain. During the visit, the Italian team hosted the delegation with a company presentation and a guided tour of FAB300, introducing GlobalWafers’ global operations, product and technology development, as well as the Italian site’s investment and progress in 12-inch wafer manufacturing. Through this exchange, the delegation gained a deeper understanding of GlobalWafers’ role in the European semiconductor supply chain and witnessed the concrete results of a Taiwanese company’s long-term presence in the international market and commitment to local collaboration.

MEMC Electronic Materials S.p.A. has been deeply rooted in Novara for many years and serves as an important manufacturing and technology hub for the Group in Europe. The Novara site has a solid foundation in wafer manufacturing and strong engineering capabilities. It has long served European semiconductor customers while maintaining close collaboration with local industries, academic and research institutions, and supply chain partners. With the development and advancement of FAB300, the Italian site continues to strengthen GlobalWafers’ advanced manufacturing footprint in Europe, serving as an important hub in supporting European customers and supply chain resilience.

During the visit, Minister Lin expressed his appreciation for GlobalWafers’ operational achievements and investment in Italy, and gave positive recognition to the Company’s role in promoting technological, industrial, and talent exchanges between Taiwan and Italy. Both sides also discussed student exchanges between Taiwan and Italy, as well as talent development in STEM fields, with the aim of promoting more cross-border exchanges and talent development through stronger links between education and industry.

The visit highlighted the important role of GlobalWafers’ Italian operations in the European semiconductor supply chain, while also reflecting the Group’s development model of combining global operations with local collaboration. The evaluation examines completeness, credibility, and communication effectiveness to assess companies’ ESG integration and internal governance. This year, GlobalWafers’ Sustainability Report advanced from Silver to Platinum level, demonstrating significant improvements in materiality assessment, stakeholder engagement, third-party assurance, and internal control processes. Enhancements to the ESG section of the company website and the adoption of an interactive digital sustainability report were also recognized, greatly improving transparency and readability in line with global disclosure trends.

The CommonWealth Magazine’s Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Awards evaluate companies across four dimensions: corporate governance, corporate commitment, social engagement, and environmental sustainability. The awards emphasize concrete actions and social impact. This year, GlobalWafers performed particularly well in the areas of social engagement and environmental sustainability, showing tangible results in education initiatives, community partnerships, carbon management, and energy reduction efforts. The company also maintained high standards in governance, with strong performance in information disclosure and compliance receiving positive recognition.

Over the past five years, GlobalWafers has shown steady and continued progress in sustainability evaluations. Since first participating in the TCSA Sustainability Report Award in 2022, the company’s report rating has risen from Silver to this year’s Platinum level. Its overall sustainability performance ranking also improved from 14th place in 2024 to 10th among electronics and ICT manufacturers. In the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, the company entered the ranking for the first time in 2024 at 27th place and rose significantly to 15th place this year, demonstrating broad external recognition of its sustainability advancements.

Across the three ESG dimensions, GlobalWafers continues to elevate its performance. On the environmental front, the company announced that it will move up its RE100 target year to 2040 and signed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment letter, formally committing to science-based emissions reduction targets. GlobalWafers continues to implement green manufacturing across its global operations, promoting energy conservation, carbon reduction, water resource optimization, and circular economy initiatives. The company also released its first Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Report, disclosing climate risk management, scenario analysis, and financial impact assessments in accordance with international sustainability frameworks. On the social front, the company has strengthened its efforts in educational programs, rural support, and local collaboration. It has enhanced employee health and safety programs, including stronger occupational safety systems, employee wellness initiatives, and emergency response training. These efforts enhance workplace well-being and overall operational resilience. On governance, GlobalWafers places information transparency and compliance at the core of its approach, continually improving the quality of sustainability disclosures and obtaining third-party verification. In response to corporate governance and sustainability trends, the company not only adjusted its organizational structure in 2025 by upgrading the “Nomination Committee” to the “Nomination and Sustainability Committee,” but also reinforced the supervisory role of independent directors in sustainability strategy, climate-related risks, and information transparency. This year, the company held its Beach Cleanup event at Longfeng Fishing Harbor near its Zhunan site for the sixth consecutive year. Employees and their families from GlobalWafers’ Hsinchu Plant, Zhunan Plant, Taisil Branch, as well as our parent company Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. and our subsidiary Crystalwise Technology, joined the event, with more than 100 participants taking part in the coastal cleanup. Approximately 200 kilograms of waste were removed, including about 80 kilograms of Styrofoam and 120 kilograms of general waste. The event incorporated education on plastic reduction and marine conservation, encouraging employees and children to bring reusable items and apply source reduction concepts in daily life. Since 2020, GlobalWafers has adopted this coastline and has supported marine protection through continuous cleanup efforts, education, and community cooperation.

To fulfill its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and enhance organizational resilience, GlobalWafers implemented the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) in 2024, establishing comprehensive information security policies, risk assessment procedures, and continual improvement mechanisms. Beyond institutional governance, GlobalWafers also prioritizes employee awareness and behavioral management. Each year, the company conducts business continuity drills covering core information systems—including enterprise resource planning covering personnel, equipment, and time resources, manufacturing execution, and process and document management—to ensure operational stability and production efficiency.

Through business impact analysis (BIA), the company defines clear data recovery objectives and the maximum acceptable recovery time (RTO) to ensure systems can be restored within the prescribed timeframe. It designs drill programs for various scenarios and allocates the necessary resources to carry out continuity and recovery operations. Throughout these processes, GlobalWafers pays special attention to potential environmental and social impacts that may arise during system disruptions or recovery—such as temporary increases in energy consumption and carbon emissions, as well as ensuring employee safety and uninterrupted services during incident handling. These measures help the company mitigate operational interruption risks, safeguard stakeholder interests, and further strengthen governance effectiveness and long-term sustainability.

Business continuity drills for information systems are not merely the responsibility of IT-related departments, but also a key strategy for implementing ESG principles, enhancing organizational resilience, and strengthening competitiveness. Each year, GlobalWafers conducts continuity drills for its core systems, using structured training to ensure that relevant personnel are familiar with critical operational procedures and that response measures are continuously optimized in line with evolving environments and technologies. By regularly validating the effectiveness of its business continuity plans, the company ensures that it can promptly activate response mechanisms, maintain operational continuity, and minimize disruptions when facing unexpected events.

Building on this foundation, comprehensive business continuity drills for key business systems that support organizational operations, as well as the Manufacturing Execution System, were carried out in June 2025. The results of these drills have demonstrated the organization’s capability to restore systems within the defined timeframe. Even in the face of unexpected events, GlobalWafers can promptly activate response mechanisms based on drill experience to safeguard customer and shareholder interests and prevent significant losses.

GlobalWafers strictly adheres to the “anti-bribery and anti-corruption ” principle. In 2024, we established guidelines regarding the giving and accepting of gifts. Under the updated rules, gifts given or received for legitimate business purposes and in accordance with local customs must not exceed NT$800 per instance, with a maximum annual total of NT$2,000 received from the same employee from accepting any gifts of any value from business partners and/or contacts.

As part of our commitment to integrity, GlobalWafers revised its whistleblowing mechanism in 2025 by upgrading the reporting system to provide a secure and anonymous channel and ensuring that whistleblowers are protected from any improper treatment. All cases are assigned by the Legal Department, with simultaneous notifications sent to independent directors. The entire process is handled with strict confidentiality, and all personnel involved must avoid any conflicts of interest. GlobalWafers actively encourage employees to speak up against misconduct—serving as the final safeguard in upholding our culture of integrity.

In addition, GlobalWafers takes proactive measures to prevent risks by requiring directors, managers, and new employees to participate in Business Integrity Training conducted by our dedicated compliance team during onboarding. This training clearly communicates the right ethical practices and raises awareness of legal compliance, with the goal of minimizing risks associated with unethical behavior. Through a rigorous management mechanism, we are committed to fully implementing ethical business practices, thereby creating long-term value for our customers, shareholders, and stakeholders. In addition, GlobalWafers conducts annual training based on the RBA Labor and Ethical Conduct Code to communicate the company’s commitment to “anti-bribery and anti-corruption” principles to all employees. Through continuous education and awareness programs, GlobalWafers’ employees maintain a high level of awareness and integrity in preventing and avoiding corrupt practices.

Beyond internal risk control measures, GlobalWafers also expects its value chain partners to uphold the highest standards of integrity. Through its “Supplier Code of Conduct and Supplier’s Declaration ” and “Customer Code of Conduct”, the company communicates its firm stance on anti-bribery and anti-corruption to all business partners. GlobalWafers strictly prohibits suppliers and customers from offering or accepting bribes under any circumstances to influence business decisions. In 2024, GlobalWafers held the “GlobalWafers Supplier Day,” during which the company’s legal counsel conducted anti-bribery and anti-corruption training for suppliers. The company also continues to monitor suppliers’ compliance through supplier audits, reinforcing ethical business conduct across the supply chain.

In 2025, we further received top scores in corporate governance and anti-corruption, once again earning international recognition for our outstanding performance in sustainable development.

The FTSE4Good Index Series, developed by global index provider FTSE Russell, is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. The indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products. Companies selected for inclusion must pass rigorous screening across a range of critical ESG themes, including corporate governance, health and safety, anti-corruption, and climate change.

Since 2022, GlobalWafers has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series for four consecutive years (2022–2025), underscoring its long-term commitment to integrating ESG principles into its operations. In 2025, GlobalWafers further improved its ESG rating from FTSE Russell, reaching 4.2 out of a maximum score of 5, outperforming the global technology sector average (2.7) and the semiconductor industry average (3.0). GlobalWafers also ranked higher than 80% of companies worldwide within the technology industry, with highest scores of 5 out of 5 in key areas such as labor standards, corporate governance, and anti-corruption.

This result not only reflects GlobalWafers’ steady progress in advancing sustainability but also affirms its efforts in enhancing transparency, strengthening corporate governance, deepening climate action, and fostering a responsible supply chain. Looking ahead, GlobalWafers will continue to strengthen its sustainability management practices and create long-term value for all stakeholders.
