On the environmental front, the company announced that it will move up its RE100 target year to 2040 and signed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment letter, formally committing to science-based emissions reduction targets. This year, the company held its Beach Cleanup event at Longfeng Fishing Harbor near its Zhunan site for the sixth consecutive year. Employees and their families from GlobalWafers’ Hsinchu Plant, Zhunan Plant, Taisil Branch, as well as our parent company Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. and our subsidiary Crystalwise Technology, joined the event, with more than 100 participants taking part in the coastal cleanup. Approximately 200 kilograms of waste were removed, including about 80 kilograms of Styrofoam and 120 kilograms of general waste. To fulfill its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and enhance organizational resilience, GlobalWafers implemented the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System (ISMS) in 2024, establishing comprehensive information security policies, risk assessment procedures, and continual improvement mechanisms. Beyond institutional governance, GlobalWafers also prioritizes employee awareness and behavioral management. Each year, the company conducts business continuity drills covering core information systems—including enterprise resource planning covering personnel, equipment, and time resources, manufacturing execution, and process and document management—to ensure operational stability and production efficiency.

Through business impact analysis (BIA), the company defines clear data recovery objectives and the maximum acceptable recovery time (RTO) to ensure systems can be restored within the prescribed timeframe. It designs drill programs for various scenarios and allocates the necessary resources to carry out continuity and recovery operations. Throughout these processes, GlobalWafers pays special attention to potential environmental and social impacts that may arise during system disruptions or recovery—such as temporary increases in energy consumption and carbon emissions, as well as ensuring employee safety and uninterrupted services during incident handling. Business continuity drills for information systems are not merely the responsibility of IT-related departments, but also a key strategy for implementing ESG principles, enhancing organizational resilience, and strengthening competitiveness. Each year, GlobalWafers conducts continuity drills for its core systems, using structured training to ensure that relevant personnel are familiar with critical operational procedures and that response measures are continuously optimized in line with evolving environments and technologies. By regularly validating the effectiveness of its business continuity plans, the company ensures that it can promptly activate response mechanisms, maintain operational continuity, and minimize disruptions when facing unexpected events.

Building on this foundation, comprehensive business continuity drills for key business systems that support organizational operations, as well as the Manufacturing Execution System, were carried out in June 2025. The results of these drills have demonstrated the organization’s capability to restore systems within the defined timeframe. GlobalWafers strictly adheres to the “anti-bribery and anti-corruption ” principle. In 2024, we established guidelines regarding the giving and accepting of gifts. Under the updated rules, gifts given or received for legitimate business purposes and in accordance with local customs must not exceed NT$800 per instance, with a maximum annual total of NT$2,000 received from the same employee from accepting any gifts of any value from business partners and/or contacts.

As part of our commitment to integrity, GlobalWafers revised its whistleblowing mechanism in 2025 by upgrading the reporting system to provide a secure and anonymous channel and ensuring that whistleblowers are protected from any improper treatment. All cases are assigned by the Legal Department, with simultaneous notifications sent to independent directors. The entire process is handled with strict confidentiality, and all personnel involved must avoid any conflicts of interest. GlobalWafers actively encourage employees to speak up against misconduct—serving as the final safeguard in upholding our culture of integrity.

In addition, GlobalWafers takes proactive measures to prevent risks by requiring directors, managers, and new employees to participate in Business Integrity Training conducted by our dedicated compliance team during onboarding. In the face of global climate change challenges, GlobalWafers is dedicated to promoting green manufacturing and integrating sustainability into its business operations. GlobalWafers continues to develop green technologies and energy-saving projects, including the implementation of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System. The Company focuses on reducing energy consumption in the most energy-intensive part of the wafer production process, developing the “Crystal Puller Energy-saving Heating Design,” which significantly reduces process energy consumption. By executing various energy-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives, GlobalWafers reduced its electricity consumption per unit by 8.17% in 2023 compared to the baseline year of 2019. Furthermore, GlobalWafers officially joined the global renewable energy initiative RE100 in 2022, committing that all subsidiaries will achieve 100% renewable energy usage by 2050. The Company plans to increase its use of green energy through initiatives such as building solar power facilities, signing power purchase agreements, and purchasing renewable energy certificates, etc. Meanwhile, GlobalWafers’ new expansions have integrated energy-saving equipment and solutions during construction and will be actively using renewable energy. For example, GlobalWafers’ Danish site has built a 10 MW solar park next to its plant in 2024, which is expected to connect to the local power grid in early 2025, becoming the first within the group to achieve the RE100 green promise. Also, the 12” new line of GlobalWafers’ Italian site and the greenfield expansion in the United States are expected to reach 100% renewable energy usage during the capacity ramp-up stage, realizing GlobalWafers’ commitment to environmental protection.
