On February 6, 2023 at 4:17 am, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Türkiye near the Syria border, followed by thousands of aftershocks. The earthquake caused over 55,190 fatalities and at least 129,490 injuries and damaged 178,000 buildings, leaving more than 2.4 million people displaced and living in tents or on the streets. Approximately 850,000 homeless children were separated from their parents and were at high risk of human trafficking, lack of psychological support, and becoming child laborers.
The SAS Group and GWC Group have a long standing commitment to assisting the disadvantaged in society. Given the severe disaster and the serious challenges faced by the victims, the SAS Group and GWC Group not only held an internal fundraising activity but also encouraged employees to care about disadvantaged people around the world. This project was expected to provide World Vision Taiwan with funding to help the victims immediately, with long term post disaster recovery support, and to stay with them as they continue moving forward. The estimated fundraising amount for this project is NT$800,000, and with the help of employees and the assistance of the Groups, the total fundraising amount is NT$1,244,800.

Everyone has a home, but each home has a different shape. Some has a missing piece, but with just a little help from us would help them overcome their difficulties. Especially during summer or before school starts, most single-parent families, skipped generation families, and new immigrant families have a hard time planning their summer and dealing with financial burdens. These are disturbing issues.

“Angel”is the name for children with physical and mental developmental disabilities. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2016, in Taiwan, one of every 14 families is“Angel Family” and there are approximate 810 thousand“Angel Family” facing the difficulty in taking care of their children. “Angel”needs their parents to take care most of the time, but there is no one who can totally trust and help them to shoulder the burden. It makes parents hard to have some breathing space. No matter how tired it can be, parents still grit their teeth and keep going on, but this determination is exhausting their spirit and body. Once parents couldn't hold on anymore, how do the children who are not independent do without parents? There is a wish deep down in every parents heart that they want to stay with their children more longer. SAS Group and GWC Group have been engaged in assisting disadvantaged people in society for long time In view of the serious pressure that Angels parents facing with, and they have no space of rest, it not only makes Angels receive inadequate caring, but also let parents can’t stand it any more. It would be lifesaver for these families that if we can provide our assistance. In addition to shoulder the burden, it can also let Angels families keep moving on.

According to statistics, 64% of the vegetative care is mainly taken care of by women, who is also the main responsible person. However, when all the responsibility for caring, and even the financial burden, falls on them, causing them to suffer serious physical and mental pressure, especially in cases belonging to vulnerable families, making the living conditions of the caregivers even more difficult. SAS Group and GlobalWafers Group have long been committed to assisting disadvantaged groups in society. Given that women in disadvantaged families face severe care pressure and financial pressure from vegetative people, if we can provide assistance to share and reduce the care pressure of these families, it will be like a strong backing for these vulnerable families, allowing family functions working normally. We cooperate with Genesis Social Welfare Foundation and hope to contribute to these families.
